Hi Folks, I have had a search and cant seem to find anyone who may have encountered the same problem as I'm having. One day I unlocked the car (2004 sorento v6) with the key fob as usual, and noticed that when I was driving the indicator lights were both on constantly. Removing a relay from inside the passenger door compartment (not the fuse box) rectified the indicators staying on but now the remote locking is not working. I have replaced the relay and this has not fixed the problem. I have ordered a new ICM from KIA which they have to get from Korea. So hopefully someone has had this problem and can shed some light on it?
Cheers Rob
Edit: The ICM I'm replacing is the one above the drivers side fuse box held in with 2 10mm nuts.

I've had the same with my V6.
Its something to do with the door locking sequence being out of sync with the alarm.
It stopped after i had the belts and pump disconnected the battery for a day or so. Since then its stopped doing it.
1. lock the car, ensure all fully closed. by boot sometimes doesn't shut properly and this can sometimes cause issues. 2. unlock drivers door with key only. 3.open bonnet and disconnect the battery, close bonnet. 4. lock drivers door with key. 5. leave 24 hours.repeat above process but connecting battery.
6. open with remote, and turn on ignition. 7. This appeared to work with mine, but may have been a fluke.
Worth a try..

2007 kia sorento 2.5crdi
Car behaves normally, except pulling away from junctions is very slow. This is only noticeable if you need to quickly accelerate after initially pulling away on a light throttle, as you put your foot down to the floor asking for more acceleration, there is nothing more delivered for about 4 or 5 seconds, when it finally accelerates as you had wished.

It has been widely discussed on the forum boards.

Just failed its MOT " src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/superangry.png"> fuming tbh. Failed on excessive corrosion, thing is I'm working down south and they know it, probably rubbed their hands when they saw me, never had any issues before with corrosion, not saying it wasn't there as it obviously was but they've definitely put a hammer through it, right along both front and back inner sills. Where I normally go at home they have never even suggested an issue with corrosion, now have 10 days to get it welded, more cost, this garage hasn't time to do it but gave me a number of a mate they always use who's cheap (yeah I'll bet and it won't be going there) Also anti-roll bar pin worn and incorrect seating of headlight bulb (I'll sort that) Sorry for the rant but I just feel that when working away they always poke and prod to find faults to make money rather than be honest and put things as an advisory. Will never use them again thats for sure. D.Linch mot & service romney marsh kent.

Hi, I've been a silent member of this forum for several years, always found it useful and the source of solutions to problems I've had with my 2004 Sorento.
Had a shock recently (08/10/2019) when I got my Sorento back from the MOT station - failed on nearside broken back axle bracket and corrosion on the other. Had been reported ok until now. We all know about this guys, don't we? I have taken the forum advice and emailed KSC and Paul Phillpot with the following message :-
Please can you help/advise me? 2004 Kia Sorento CDRI XS Automatic
I bought this car in 2013 and I have been very pleased with it, however when I collected it from the MOT station yesterday, I was shocked to find it had failed, mainly because the of the broken Upper Trailing Arm Bracket on Back Axle casing (nearside rear). Also the advisory for the badly corroded Upper Trailing Arm Bracket on Back Axle casing (offside rear). Neither of these were made apparent to me during a recent full service at my garage, even though I always request that this is checked. The other defects and advisories mentioned on the MOT failure certificate are easily remedied, but the broken and corroded brackets are more serious and a show stopper for me. I have attached a copy of the MOT failure certificate for your information.
As a member of the Sorento Owners Forum UK, I have followed the forum threads on the problems of early Sorento's in the UK. And I have taken their advice regarding contacting you regarding rectification of the back axle mounting problems. I am aware that in 2016 many similar examples were brought to the attention of Kia UK and on 28/4/16, KCS stated as part of Case Reference - 1604127004: "We are confident that if carried out correctly, the countermeasure outlined in the service action TSB will provide a long term solution to this concern." & "If any customer is dissatisfied with the quality of the repairs completed we recommend that they contact the dealer that completed the work and ask that they carry out a further inspection." Noting that Kia Main Dealers have been particularly uncooperative in recent months, I bring this to your direct attention. Please can you advise the best method of proceeding?
Well now, that was sent on Wednesday, 9thOct 2019. Now waiting on a response from Kia. as to what action to take.
I'll report back when I get a reply.
Sorry if I've posted to the wrong place but this is my first time actually posting anything!!
Cheers

I had this back from Kia :-
Thank you for emailing Paul Philpott, our president & CEO. Paul has asked me to respond on his behalf, but please be assured he’s aware of your case and will be sent a copy of this reply. It’s disappointing to hear that you’re Sorento has failed its recent MOT due to the condition of the Upper Trailing Arm bracket. Having reviewed your vehicle details, I can see that your Sorento was inspected and a protective spray was applied on 15 October 2014. I’d recommend contacting your local Kia dealer for your Sorento to be inspected further. Although your warranty expired on 7 April 2011, we’ll still look to assist where possible. You can find details of your local Kia dealer here - www.kia.com/uk/utility/find-a-dealer/#/step-1If there’s anything else I can help with, please get in touch via email or call us on 0333 2022 990. Kind regards Stephanie Gallagher Senior Customer Service Advisor Kia Motors UK -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have replied:-
Thank you for your response related to my Sorento problems. Also my apologies for the delay in my reply. As it took a while for you to respond, and I needed to have access to a suitable vehicle because of being disabled and having mobility problems, I have purchased another vehicle (not a Kia, I'm afraid) so I can stay mobile.
The Sorento is currently in a garage/bodyshop in Gloucester as they were willing to quote to replace the rotten brackets, clear up the corrosion on the back axle and get the car through the MOT. Whether this will happen I'm not sure but if it proves they are unable to do it, I will contact your KIA dealership in Gloucester or Swindon for the Sorento to be inspected as you recommend. Hopefully this will not be necessary.
Once again, thank you for help. I will notify you if the local repair is satisfactory or if I need further Kia assistance.
Kind regards
-------------------------------------------------------------
I'm hopeful the garage/bodyshop where the Sorento is at present will do the business and get it MOT'd. At least KIA give me a back-up plan if that goes wrong.
Incidentally, the replacement vehicle I've bought to keep me mobile is a Land Rover Freelander HSE Automatic. I like it.
Update - the garage/bodyshop did a great job replacing the back axle brackets, also de-rusted the back axle and chassis frame, then undersealed them. It sailed through the MOT and is back on the road - with a new owner.
So here ends my 6 years involvement with Sorento's.

Hi mandomanI do hope KCS will help you but beware they may withdraw this if another garage touches your vehicle. Paul

mandomanWhy pay for something you could well get for free from KIA. You already have alternative transport so no rush it seems. I also note in KIA's message to you a possible failure in their procedures in the earlier work done. Read through the appropriate section to see how the procedures were intended to be performed.

Hi
my 2014 Sorento started to be difficult to put into 1st & reverse gear. When I took it to my Kia dealer they told me it was my clutch starting to go but it wasn’t covered under my warranty. I find this hard to believe because it’s still within the 7 year 100,000 warranty period.
incidentally I don’t have any other indications of it being the clutch - it’s not slipping & is towing fine.
can advise me please.

Clutches are typically "wear & tear" items and are excluded from warranties. Check your policy.
