Hi Everyone Ive recently become the proud owner of a 60 plate Sorento kx2 with 49k miles one lady owner and full main dealer service history.Upto now its been awesome but tonight on the way to work i gave it the beans as i was late.I noticed when i arrived at work there was a strong smell of burning rubber coming from the rear of the car.I have just had 2x new tyres fitted yesterday and tomorrow im having 2x new anti roll bar bushes as the offside rear has failed Do you think the burning smell could be the failed bushes or the tyres?Im very worried Could someone please help. Thanks Hi Panic not - if your brake pedal is also very high at times, then you need to get the master cylinder seen to. We have not heard of this problem on a MK 2 before, just on the MK 1. If you register/join this Forum, login and then go to the link below you will find the details there: kiasorento.proboards.com/thread/12550/brakes-binding?page=1&scrollTo=77807OK?? Regards

Hi Just had a quick question regarding road tax I owned an 04 sorento xe and my road tax was @£276 I then purchased an 07 sorento xs and it went up to @£500 Not sure why as its basically the same engine
I then spoke to someone at weekend that has an 09 sorento same shape as mine and it has now gone back to @£276
Has the DVLA got it wrong or has anyone else noticed this? I am now looking for another later sorento is there anyway of telling from the year or model prefix what the road tax would be other than check on dvla website if I can get hold of reg number? Hi My 1st thought is that it is because the Facelift has the same lump but with a hefty power uplift. Hopefully, someone with first hand experience of this will come on line soon - that said, please have a look on the Clubhouse and General Discussion boards, in case it has already been answered there. OK? Regards

Hello I am a new member so I hope that I post this correctly.
Kia Sorento XS Automatic 04
Would loss of gearbox oil cause the gears to drag i.e. drop from 4th to 3rd without warning?
Would this happen if the oil pressure drops due to leakage of gearbox oil?
There was a leakage fro the pipe that connects to the cooler unit
Please has anyone had any experience of this?

Regarding the query by cliff1 regarding road tax. (Sorry, but I cant find how to reply to posts on this subject) I am totally shocked at the price of your road tax in the UK now. I have obviously completely lost touch with the cost of living over there. Mind you, its been 19yrs +. Road tax on the sorento in SA is 46 pounds, whatever the model ! (Sorry, no pound signs on our keyboards here.) No chance of us coming home any time soon. Shorty43

Hi l, im at a loss now, ready to scrap it, my 2005 2.5crdi, running lumpy and a good bit of exhaust smoke, it first started with the stalling issue but now upon starting its lumpy and smoking like mad, ive had all 4 injectors out, checked and re-seated etc, checked wiring harness, seems to be no issue there, spoke to kia on the phone who said before booking it in for tank delamination to check the tank, so i did, no delamination, little bit of dirt in the bottom of the sender unit but nothing like some of them ive seen on google images, no real cause for concern, i finally noticed the mil lamp was on, checked and got cylinder 1 p0263 2 p0266 3 p0269 4 p0272 Contribution balance on all 4 Also got p0193 Fuel rail pressure sensor, sensor a circuit high and p1188 monitoring control So this morning ive whipped off the fuel filter, its not very old although it was on the car before the issue started, it looks immaculate to be honest, again cannot see any cause for concern, Ive been and picked 1 up and replaced it and it has made no difference at all. The engine is still running lumpy, on acceleration it bogs down, no power low down at all. Can anyone shed some light as im at whits end, Im thinking next the fuel pressure sensor, although i know this failing causes the engine to cut out, when runnig i have unplugged it and the engine stalled immediately and i had to lock and unlock the car to get it to start again as i believe the sensor failing knocks out the ecm for some reason or another, I have seen there is a pressure sensor valve and that its different to the pressure sensor, im yet to find the location of this, could anyone lead me in the right direction Hi m4pckHow are you getting on with this please? I'm going to move your query to a section where you are more likely to get responses. Just a thought have you checked your EGR valve? Regards

2006 Kia Sorento 121.000 on the clock .my question is what drives the balancing shafts as I recently had a new timing chain set fitted not cheap then the noise returned I went back to the garage and they said that it was not the timing chain but as the noise comes and goes it is likely to be the balancing shafts are these shafts driven by the timing chain as I have no idea Hi shedheadNot sure if you have had a response to this yet? Going to move your original post to its own thread where it should get more responses. Hope this is OK please? Regards

2015 Sorento. Clock GPS satellites are locked on to the continental time. If I switch off GPS switch and set clock to local time, after two days it auto goes back to continental time. The local garage says that you have to fool the car into thinking it is in Paris and logged on to the Paris clock. The last time they did it before our clocks went back they programmed in to the satnav "Paris L'horologue" and then set the clock by analogue How do you set it to Paris? Help!

Hi photographerI've just cleared your membership. It is not clear from your post what year and model your Sorento is. Now that you are a member you can copy and post your query in the Technical Issue board for the Year of your Sorento where you will be more likely to get a response. Regards

Hi.
I have a 54 reg Sorento CRDI XE AUTO DIESEL and have been having issues with it keep cutting out whilst driving and the IMMOlight coming on and loss of steering. In October I had the service and they changed filters, sorted problem briefly but not completely, the garage then changed the filter which is under the back passenger seat and showed me a picture of the muck that had accumulated, they cleaned it and fitted a new filter. Have had starting problems with the IMMO light and the car not starting. Then was driving on motorway and tried to accelerate past someone and the car cut out, the check engine light comes on and takes a few times before starting again, drive a bit further and cuts out again. Am worried sick about driving as it is likely to cut out and cause an accident. I have had it back into the garage and they have put diagnostics on it and they get the code P1181. He told me today that I am likely to need a new few tank which starting costs of £1000. Can anyone help me with advice please. thank yiu
