G'day fellas - can anyone tell me how to remove the trim panel from the tailgate (2003 Sorento) so I can access the central locking? The keyless unlocking of the tailgate has become a bit hit and miss so it's probably a sticky solenoid or something similar but the buttons securing the the trim to the tail gate have me a bit stumped. I assume they are the same on UK versions, a button with a cross head insert (which just rotates doesn't screw). Bit reticent to start prising it off and risk damaging the securing panel buttons. Any clues? They should unscrew but you can't put any pressure on them otherwise they pop back in, I've always found that getting a small flat head screwdriver under the lip while I unscrew, then to put them back in is just a case of pushing them back in

Thanks for that tip - I'll try inserting a flat tip screwdriver head between the trim and the panel just to apply some gentle outward pressure while I attempt to unscrew the clip. Cheers!

Hi been to book in with Kia after reporting issue with Kia customer services they say have to pay just to look at so they can report even though I have taken in photos of the issue and a sample of the residue that I pumped out. is this right that they charge and will Kia fund the replacement tank Also again today it took ages to start cut out round the corner from the house admittedly I am running tank very low for inspection but then all I did was restart the car and hey presto perfect it seems that when left for a bit I get the same problem again takes along time turning over and then it fires up runs a bit funny I then restart and it works perfect today I gave it a good thrashing on low fuel and didn't miss a beat until left for five hours, I think tank may have caused other issue but not sure if fuel filter or pump issue any ideas welcome. its been great since last full service in April please help! Hi fosbyflopDid you ask KCS if your tank had been done and what did they say please? What has happened in the past is that when the condition is confirmed, the Inspection cost is waived and paid for by Kia along with the cost of the tank and labour etc. If I remember rightly, the main thread on this 'can it be cured' has multiple examples and elsewhere bearing this out. Please have a read if not seen yet. What happens is that if an owner turns up for a tank check and everything is OK then Kia do not pay the dealer - so, the dealer covers his costs by getting the owner to pay. Personally, I would go with the flow, get it booked in and see what happens. I would expect that they will find a problem and that it will all go away. If they find a problem and still try to charge you, then ask them why you have beed singled out for such shoddy treatment when to the best of your knowledge, the inspection cost has always been covered by Kia. If they still want you to pay, walk away and contact KCS by email or phone, ask them the same question and then failing that email the CEO Paul Philpott. See main Forum Menu for email and phone numbers. OK?? Regards PS: This question and reply will be moved to the main thread for this problem shortly

have taken car 2007 sorento to kia dealers for check and told that tank delaminating have asked if this will be done foc but they did not seem optimistic but asking if any goodwill gesture by Kia what should I do Hi Unhappy Our advice will always be if your dealer is not forthcoming with help in resolving the tank delamination and/or the rear axle corrosion issues then email KCS explaining the issues you are experiencing include the dealers name and location, stating you are aware of them replacing FOC and flushing the tank and system and also rectifying the issue FOC regarding the rear axle and tube. Contact details for KCS and the CEO Paul Philpott can be found at the top of the main page on this forum or kiasorento.proboards.com/thread/12916/email-kia-uk-customer-servicesMay I suggest you register as a member instead of guest to benefit from the full use of the forum? It is also a pity some owners I speak to regarding the rear axle corrosion problem have ignored advice to get it checked and rectified FOC or face a heavy bill later on, saying I am not too bothered I will not be keeping the car that long etc. We can only inform owners, if they choose to ignore the comments, then that is their prerogative.

Hello All...
I've just purchased my 2nd Sorento 2005 XS 2.5 Auto. after being away for some time, however. I have a problem with the rear brakes. they are sticking on and are ridiculously hot.... smoking hot. My local Halfords garage have just said that it could be an issue with the ABS pressure or master cylinder not releasing after its been pressed on. Can anyone offer any assistance with this? anyone had the same issue. I'm really nervous with this...
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Hi richbaskey77Quite a bit on this theme on the forum. Please drop in and take a look at this thread: kiasorento.proboards.com/thread/12550/brakes-binding?page=1&scrollTo=77794binding rear offside brakes has been a known problem for some time but as you will see from my particular case and supporting comments I think we have probably run the true cause to ground now. Hope this helps a bit... Good to hear from you again - OK?? Regards

Thanks Paul -hiu I didn't have the first idea where to start. Regards Cheers. I found those also, but the US Sorento appears to be quite different from the UK one and the one I have doesn't have the myuvo function (it's not mentioned anywhere in the car, or in the manual). The manual makes no mention of the wifi button, anywhere. The only connectivity it mentions is Bluetooth. I might just take it to the dealer and say 'What the feck is this button for' and hope they know. Cheers

Hi Just had a quick question regarding road tax I owned an 04 sorento xe and my road tax was @£276 I then purchased an 07 sorento xs and it went up to @£500 Not sure why as its basically the same engine
I then spoke to someone at weekend that has an 09 sorento same shape as mine and it has now gone back to @£276
Has the DVLA got it wrong or has anyone else noticed this? I am now looking for another later sorento is there anyway of telling from the year or model prefix what the road tax would be other than check on dvla website if I can get hold of reg number?

Many thanks ECKWHITTLE Hi The short answer is NO, it is not a Recall - so far the Forum has not found any Kia paperwork on this. However, handled in the right way you can get the same FOC result - with no quibbles. Please go to the following thread and follow the Forum advice there - to our knowledge, no one who has done this has been charged a penny, though we have heard of 2 cases where owners have been charged a nominal amount, probably because they went to a dealer first. kiasorento.proboards.com/thread/11715/tank-delamination-curedOK? Hi My 1st thought is that it is because the Facelift has the same lump but with a hefty power uplift. Hopefully, someone with first hand experience of this will come on line soon - that said, please have a look on the Clubhouse and General Discussion boards, in case it has already been answered there. OK? Regards

We have not heard of this problem on a MK 2 before, just on the MK 1. If you register/join this Forum, login and then go to the links below you will find the details there: kiasorento.proboards.com/thread/12550/brakes-binding?page=1&scrollTo=77807OK?? Regards
